Description: This early c. 1850 Vermont Medicine
is considered quite rare and relatively unknown. I am told
that the unusual style of embossing facilitated a label placement
to occur between the DR WOOD'S and AROMATIC BITTERS. However
I have not seen a labeled DR WOOD'S yet. Listed in Greer #
1797.ITEM 6722. "DR. WOOD'S / AROMATIC SPIRIT - BELLOWS
FALLS, VT.," (Greer #1797), bluish aquamarine, oval,
tubular pontil scar, 7 ¾"H, applied sloping collar,
about mint. American, C. 1850, rare.
Embossed: DR WOOD'S // AROMATIC SPIRITS // BELLOWS
FALLS, VT
Height: 7.75" H.
Color: Bluish Aqua.
Condition: Very good, strong embossing, whittled
glass. Sloping applied collar has a small stress crack about
2 cm in length. Very difficult to see, you need to turn bottle
slowly in bright light for it to become visible. Definitely
stable and not an issue for displaying under any circumstance.
Iron Pontil. American, C. 1850.
